Use of video as a resource in health education for the elderly: an integrative review

This integrative review aims to investigate in scientific production the use of the audiovisual educational technology for health education for the elderly population. The search was carried out in the Medline, LILACS, CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science, Science Direct and Embase databases. Six articles were included, published in national and international journals, with a predominance of level 4 evidence. The most discussed topic was the risk of falls in the elderly, but there was a variety in the thematic direction of the articles. Despite studies indicating efficacy and effectiveness, the number of scientific productions and the quality of evidence are low. They did not address the evaluation of the impact of educational technology in the field of health education. With regards to the themes developed for health education for the elderly, it is important to emphasize and suggest a greater diversity, mainly due to the multidimensionality of the demands for health from the elderly.
