Abstract

The objective of the present study was to verify whether Teledentistry contributes to increasing the effectiveness of dental care. This is a scope review, in which articles were searched in PubMed, Embase and SciELO databases, published until June 2023. In total, 336 articles were found. After excluding duplicates and selection by reading titles, abstracts and full text, 22 studies were evaluated. The articles showed a lot of heterogeneity in relation to the types of study, objectives and participants. In the majority, general dentists and specialists participated. The modality of Teledentistry most explored was Teleconsulting and Stomatology was the specialty with the greatest application. According to the articles, Teledentistry contributed to increase the effectiveness of dental care. It is concluded that Teledentistry, in its different modalities, has contributed to increasing the effectiveness of dental care.
